<div dir="ltr">
Being first-time parents, we didn't know what are the essential things to bring. So we packed quite a fair bit into our adult backpack, and bring it to her preschool. My thumb of rule: it's better to over-pack rather than realised that we miss out something and ended up she kick a big fuss.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
At the preschool, we then realised all her classmates have their own kid bag. It's kind of a discipline for them to put their own bag into their own shelf. (some of the little boys even went to take their own bags and bring it to me to help them unzip, which they then take out their "treasure" aka cuddly toy to show me. Haha...)</div>
<div dir="ltr">
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
So immediately after "Little Twinkle's" class (half day on 1st day to try out), we brought her to find her perfect bag at Takashimaya. :))))))</div>
<div dir="ltr">
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
She fell asleep when we reached Takashimaya, so we decided to look around for her bags first while she sleep. We found 4 bags based on her likes (animals and kitty), durability (i.e. it can last till K2), size (able to put in towel, clothes and water bottle - the necessities as advised by the preschool teacher).</div>

It's really interesting to us actually, we thought that she may not really know how to choose, but in the end she chose something totally on her own and stand by her own decision. So we decided to respect her opinion and wanted to buy the bag, but it happened to be the last piece at that moment and was covered with some wear-and-tear scratches. So the salesperson told us that the new stock will be coming in 2 weeks time and she will call us when it's here. So "Little Twinkle" shall continue to use our big bag before her "duck" bag arrives.</div>

Every night Little Twinkle will religiously say goodnight to everyone in the family i.e. papa, 奶奶, 太婆, our helper before she heads into the bedroom with me for her bedtime. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She tends to give "flying kiss" or hug or wave or say "bye bye" to indicate goodnight to each family member. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But today she sprouted out "Night" to our helper, and followed on to say "Night night" to 奶奶. We were all pleasantly surprised - she said a new word again! Well done darling! :)</div>

Last night after work, our helper told me of an emergency - Little Twinkle's milk powder was running dangerously low!! So we immediately rush down to Cold Storage right after dinner.</div>

<div dir="ltr">
Didn't know the Cold Storage at Great World City is huge! Little Twinkle was pretty excited and pointing to items that she saw, touching them, saying their shapes / names / colors (with whatever vocab that she has). It was pretty amazing to see how she tried to communicate what she saw!</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
There's a whole big section all catered to baby products and food! And much more varieties of baby yogurts that I don't see at other supermarkets as well! *pleasantly surprised* Little Twinkle didn't really fancy the previous yogurt (yobaby brand) that i bought for her, so it's great that there are other choices over here that she may actually like. :)</div>

Guess she's really tired of porridge YET AGAIN! Hehe <br />
<br />
So we have decided to make pasta for her lunch today! We have given her pasta before today too, but at that time (about 11-12 months old) she couldn't really chew well and thus didn't really like it. <br />
<br />

<br />
Tadah!!! We made home-made tomato-based salmon with broccoli pasta. *burps* Delicious yet without any salt or sugar, perfect for baby and young toddler! *feeling accomplished*<br />
<br />
Little Twinkle finished almost all of the pasta, with only about 2 spoonfuls left. Yippee! Maybe we cooked slightly more than what she can take. Haha... But still really happy that Little Twinkle loves the pasta! :)<br />
<br />
Got this recipe from a mummy on a Facebook group that advocates healthy eating for baby, who learns this recipe from her Italian friend (also a mummy!). Thus we used herbs such as Basil and Rosemary today as per the recipe. <br />
<br />

<br />
Also got the above olive oil (for cooking) and extra virgin olive oil (for salad) from Cold Storage. Hehe the little hand on the right is Little Twinkle trying to reach for the olive oil. Have been contemplating to get it for Little Twinkle's dishes but was rather lazy to think of other dishes other than porridge (hehe porridge is so easy to make!). So now that I got this, I guess I have to be hardworking and starting looking for new recipes for Little Twinkle's dishes. <br />

Little Twinkle trying to mimic what we do when we talk on the handphone! LOL<br />
<br />
On a side more, I discovered a really good iPhone application for blogging on the go. So now I don't need a laptop to blog, I can blog while watching my cheeky Little Twinkle buzzing around. Perfect for mummy with busy toddler! Haha... <br />
<br />
I been wanting to blog our Europe trip and taiwan trip for memories sake, but just couldn't find time to do so. Guess it would now be possible with this app! Hehe :)<br />
<br />
And that's our last Saturday of year 2013 - a lazy one!Regina Natiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02836915334512499947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5526480167748261231.post-87178513156028234462013-11-12T01:46:00.000+08:002014-03-14T00:29:49.431+08:00Little Twinkle #7 - Baby, you are my sunshine!On the saturday that just past, Little Twinkle went for her first audition at the PS Baby Competition. There were sooooo many babies and parents, even though we were given 1.45pm slot but we still have to wait for maybe about 45 mins - to register, then queue for her photo to be taken.<br />
<br />
The theme is "Most Sunshine Baby", and this is what she was wearing that day. Haha... given we thought it's just for fun activity, we only started looking for clothes to match the theme at the very last minute. We managed to find her hair accessory just the night before because Cecilia kept emphasizing on "accessorize accessorize"!!! haha...<br />
<br />
Nevertheless, Little Twinkle didn't give her sunshine smile when she was on the stage. :( Every participant only had few minutes in front of the camera, then the photographer will try to get the baby's best shot. MNG went up the stage with Little Twinkle but didn't manage to make her smile. She was busy looking at both the photographer and coordinator warily. In the end, the coordinator did manage to make her smile briefly when she threw the colourful ball to Little Twinkle but our guess is that the photographer didn't manage to capture that. Oh well, it's an experience for all 3 of us too! :)<br />

<span style="text-align: left;">On a side note, daddy's lil girl is gradually showing her 前世小情人本色. Yesterday we were shopping at IMM for her winter wear (as we are travelling to He Huan Shan in Taiwan and heard the temperature is about 3-6 degree celsius). It was past her sleeping time and she was constantly rubbing her eyes and looking real tired. MNG was carrying her so that she could lie on daddy's chest to sleep, but she was kept awake with all the activities around her. Worried that she might throw a tantrum again if she got overtired, so i tried to persuade her to sleep....i placed my head against MNG's chest and said to Little Twinkle "if you don't want to sleep, mummy will sleep on daddy's chest." Without thinking, she quickly pushed my head off daddy's chest and hug daddy indicating that daddy is all hers. So i tried several more times to place my head on MNG's chest and every time she quickly pushed my head off daddy's chest again and quickly hug daddy to herself. Haha... indeed 前世小情人本色 manz! There's no more room for 今世情人already... LOL</span></div>

This was unintentional - we were drinking yakult and Little Twinkle insists / whines to have the yakult bottles, so I decided to wash the empty yakult bottles and let her play with it.<br />
<br />
And Little Twinkle managed to play with the empty yakult bottles for a good 40 minutes! Impressive! I didn't expect empty bottles can be so attractive to a 1 year old. And this will help us reduce some expenses on buying toys *ka-ching* :))))<br />

After this intriguing (to her) play experience, I enthusiastically told our helper to keep different shapes and sizes of the clear bottles we used going forward. Since Little Twinkle is so interested with bottles at this stage, we will collect the bottles and rotate them for her to play with (and saves money from buying new toys! hahahah).We did the same thing 2 days ago and filled up an empty bottle with colourful peddles which Little Twinkle really likes much.</div>

Just googled and realised there are many things that people used to fill into empty bottles for baby/toddler to play with! This is so cool! Such discovery bottle toys can easily be recycled from materials around the house which is cheap and easy to make!</div>

He went back home earlier and saw Little Twinkle walking around the house on her own (without any support!!!). When he tried to hold her hands, she refused and insisted walking independently. Mr Nice Guy was so touched and lost for words by her courage and persistence that he kept asking me to remember this date on my blog - he has been reminding me about it repeatedly in case i forgotten or was too tired/lazy to blog.<br />
<br />
To celebrate this big milestone of Little Twinkle, we decided to put together the various video clips of her learning steps towards independent walking. Both of us love the video clip but MNG find it a bit plain without any music, in which i do not know how to insert music at different intervals. LOL. Nevertheless I will just upload this "somewhat plain" video for us to remember this very day! :)<br />

<br />
The weekend following our return from Europe trip was a busy one. We went to a colleague's housewarming party on Saturday's afternoon and the 3 nats met again (all the girls' name start with nat that even sometimes I get confused... haha). Coincidentally, it was Little Twinkle's afternoon nap time then. You can see in the first pic (of the 3 girls together), she was looking sooo tired when we just reached. Luckily the gracious host allows Little Twinkle to take a 1+ hour nap in her bedroom, and Little Twinkle was back to her happy self after her dutifully nap. :)<br />

Thereafter, we went to a little boy's baby shower. Seeing how tiny a 1 month old baby is makes us realise that Little Twinkle is really growing fast! Mr Nice Guy used to be able to carry her in one arm, but nowadays he kept exclaiming that he's breathless after carrying Little Twinkle for a short distance. Haha... The elder brother Cyrus (about 5 months older than little Twinkle) was very friendly and wanted to hug Little Twinkle several times. Little Twinkle, on the other side, appears to be rather cool. haha...<br />

On Sunday, my cousin and family came into Singapore to do some shopping and swing by our place to visit us. Below are pics of Little Twinkle and Yu Xuan (2-3 weeks older than Little Twinkle).<br />

Little Twinkle also attended her first class, but we were prohibited to take any pictures during the class. Also visited a girlfriend who just gave birth to an adorable little boy Caleb, but we didn't take pictures then as we did not want to disturb Caleb who was sleeping.<br />
<br />
On a side note, Mr Nice Guy and I have completed our first homework for Little Twinkle. We have made another step in parenthood! LOL. The task is basically to draw and colour 4 items starting with alphabet "A" and "B" respectively. See our great masterpiece below - drawing by MNG and coloring by me! :)<br />

Lastly, this is a collage of Little Twinkle with her favourite scooter at the moment. Loves the rainbow dress that she's wearing - we got it from the Phuket trip in July. A little suntan beach babe :) (p.s: Little Twinkle has been quite tanned since the Phuket trip and most people don't dare to tell us that she's very tanned, so they normally ask us "did you all often bring her for swimming?" *chuckles* )<br />

birthday! It seems as though it was just yesterday that Doctor Jeanette Tan
placed you in my arms and congratulated me and your Daddy. I remember how tiny
you were, at 3.03kg. You fit just perfectly in my arms, though, and I know that
you were always meant to be mine. <o:p></o:p></span><br />

Daddy took photos of you, take your weight, count your fingers and toes while you looked into his eyes as though you already know he is your Daddy.</span><br />

Your english name came about from the movie <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Avengers_(2012_film)">Avengers</a>. Daddy turned around to Mummy in the theatre and said "Don't you find this name nice and it rhymes with your english name? And the character is so brave, smart and beautiful. I hope my daughter would be like her." And that's how we decided on your name.<br />

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Daddy and I were discussing beforehand about having baby before 30 years
old but I was still in a state of disbelief when I found out that I was
pregnant. That was about 5 days after my grandpa (who is your great grandpa)
passed away and I have not got over the loss. I don't think it's a coincidence
that I lost him and found you at around the same period. In fact, I think he
send you to me as he knew that you were exactly what I needed. And you are. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

Honestly, they were the hardest weeks of my life, and I cried several times. But eventually, we began to understand each
other. I gradually began to feel more confident, and you were so adorable that
it helped me to adapt to my new role. And every day, I found myself falling
more and more in love with you. And to this day, I am surprised and awed by how
deep that love grows. <o:p></o:p></span><br />

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">At your 1 year old birthday party, the theme was "Twinkle twinkle
little star" because you are always captivated by this nursery rhyme. When
you were 1+ month old, daddy managed to find out through trial and error that
you would miraculously stopped crying upon hearing this song, even until today.
Your birthday cake was inspired by the video "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCjJyiqpAuU">Twinkle twinkle little star</a>" by Super Simple Songs. When you saw the cake, you kept looking at
the cake and pointing at star and owl as though you find them familiar. And
when everyone started singing birthday song for you, you looked pleasantly
surprised and turned around to look at everyone, then at your cake, and then
turned around to smile at Daddy and me. That was magical, it's as though you
understand what was going on! And when birthday song ended, you clapped really
happily along with everyone. Your 1000
watt smile captured the hearts of all the guests. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">For the last year, we have watched you learn and grow every day. You are
a courageous baby who loves challenges and never stop learning to reach your
goals. We hope this fighting spirit will always remain in you and you will not
bow to obstacles easily in the future. You learned to flip successfully at 14
weeks. And sit upright at 6 months old. At around 8+ months old you have been trying to stand unassisted and
pushing away our hands even though your legs are not quite as strong as you
think they were. Despite that, your arms were certified by Daddy to be super strong as you managed to climb up sofa at around 8 months old. </span>Daddy called you "Spider girl" because you love to climb. You learnt to climb down our bed yourself without any guidance at 10 months old, which amazed all of us! At 1 year old you are extremely mobile, either by crawling on
the floor on walking by holding on to furniture or our hands. </div>

kick". However, you dislike sand and cries/ sulks every time we tried to
put you down on the sand at Sentosa beach at 10+ months old. Daddy is looking
forward to build sand castle with you as the first attempt at Phuket beach was
unsuccessful, and Daddy attributed it to the softness of the sand.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">You love animals. At 9+ months old, that was your first time seeing a
pony and you were full of giggles and was so eager to touch the pony. You feed
goats and baby elephant at 10 and 11 months old respectively, and was equally
excited about it. You would smile and point every time you see a dog or bird. We
been to the Zoo and you were full with smiles. River Safari, on the other hand,
did not quite catch your attention. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">You love balls
- rolling them across the floor and crawling to retrieve them, throwing them,
chewing on them. You will always be delighted to see a ball, no matter big or
small. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">You seem to
have an internal sensor for smart phones and Ipad - you love to chew, toss,
turn up and down to inspect the phone, press the home button or look at your
photos in my phone smilingly. <o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">You are an on time baby. I have been wanting to blog but just could not find any time to do so...I am typing this after I put Little Twinkle to sleep, while Mr Nice Guy is outside playing his new PlayStation that we got from HK recently.<br />
<br />
(on a side note, I am excited to share that Mr Nice Guy got me a really gorgeous pink controller for PS, but I haven't have the time to test out my new pretty tech toy. :)) Please recommend if you have any cute and fun PS games ya.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://c3.cduniverse.ws/resized/250x500/games/838/8784838.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://c3.cduniverse.ws/resized/250x500/games/838/8784838.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It's really not easy finding time to do our own stuff now... arh I think friends who read this will start nagging me that parenthood is about commitment and sacrifices etc. So my everyday schedule now is like weekday mornings rush to feed her, change diaper, play with her for a while before going to work. After work rushing home to spend some time before her bedtime at 9+pm. Then on weekends I am taking care of her on my own and she definitely needs constant attention because she is just SOOO active! (i wonder is that a good trait to have? haha) <br />
<br />
And just last month she had a terrible cough, flu, diarrhea, vomit.. I think it's the same virus that got to my mother-in-law as well (she was also so sick that she can't get out of bed for 2 days), so I have to take 3 days leave to take care of Little Twinkle - she was oh so pitiful and cranky. </div>

<br />
For a first time mum, it hasn't been an easy learning journey - to really get used to having a baby and knowing the roles of a mummy... From Baby N's 4th week onwards, doctor diagnosed her with colic (stomach wind), reflux and constipation. And the colic attack only occured at night (rather peculiar), so she tends to be fussy at night. I used to carry her and walk around the house at night, when everyone else is sleeping. At one time, doc advise her feeding to be every 2.5 hrs, which was extremely tiring because she doesn't always fall back to sleep after feeding. And on top of that, I have to use the pump for breastmilk. That was really a tiring period. But I'm really glad that i managed to survive the first 2 months, many thanks to family and close friends for their support. :p<br />
<br />
Here's our adorable baby N (aka Little Twinkle) saying hello :) Happy to say that she managed to sleep through the night now, and only wakes up at around 4-5 plus for milk. Hooray!<br />

<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
I must admit I was quite reluctant to have the pre-wedding photoshoot initially,</div>
<div align="center">
(p.s: 'Mr Nice Guy' said this is an understatement. I was ULTRA reluctant. Haha)</div>
<div align="center">
concluding it was a waste of time and money.</div>
<div align="center">
Few thousands dollar spent on a wedding album which will eventually collect dust on my bookshelf. </div>
<div align="center">
That was my most inner truthful thought...</div>
<div align="center">
even up to the day of photoshoot. Haha...</div>
<div align="center">
In fact, I was SUPER grouchy and 'black-faced' on the day of photoshoot.</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
On hindsight, I'm now glad that 'Mr Nice Guy' insisted on having the shoot. </div>
<div align="center">
Haha.. ladies do change their mind fast. ;p</div>
<div align="center">
It's actually an interesting experience.</div>
<div align="center">
And very memorable too!</div>
<div align="center">
It's our first time taking shoot with horse too! </div>
<div align="center">
And the horse was very charming, but kind of more sulky than I was. Haha </div>
<div align="center">
I'm sure we will still have nice memories about this shoot when we are old. :)</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
So... Ladies who have the same thinking like mine, do go for the pre-wedding shoot.</div>
<div align="center">
You won't regret it, it's a memorable experience I promise. :)</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
And one proud thing is...</div>
<div align="center">
We did not succumb to the sales talk of topping up money to buy the ultra expensive photos.</div>
<div align="center">
Yipee...</div>
<div align="center">
I felt sorry for the salesgirl though...</div>
<div align="center">
She really tried her very best to ask us to buy more photos. </div>
