Wedding Banquet #2 - More details ironed out for a Sweet Afternoon Affair

Thumb of rule - They said you have to involve parents in the banquet planning...

Detail #1
After a really lengthy discussion with parents,
we have decided to hold our banquet in the noon,
to cater to the convenience and needs of my overseas relatives.
So everyone would be happy with a radiant smile. :)

To all our dear friends, kindly leave ur noon free for us please.
We are going to have a sweet afternoon celebration!

Detail #2
As we have some rather senior guests,
we need to charter a coach / bus to send them to and fro.
Anyone with lobang for bus chartering, kindly let us know please.

Detail #3
After some 'intimidating' encounters with bridal shops at wedding fair
where they just refuse to let u go if u did not sign on their package,
(a taiwan BS even used the tactic of making us guilty saying that we "did not give face" etc)
we have finally signed our bridal studio package!
Hehe, we actually started searching only this week. *blush*
It's with SG Bridal House.
We were initially keen with WhiteLink.
It's more of a "We are tired, let just settle it fast" manner,
not that it's superior over the other BSs since we visited merely 3.
Sheryl and Huimin, we are impulsive again. Haha... Oops.
But we were not alone, 'Mr Nice Guy' parents were with us.
So hopefully it was a 'good' deal.
We like this photo below, pray that ours be as good or better. Hee...

Update #4
Met Ben & wife, Sylvia and Jason for chillout,
they and our other friends have shared good insights about hotels,
hopefully the venue would be settled by next weekend.

Yipee, after that we can take a rest from the challenging banquet planning.
Oh ya, we need to work on our diet plan too!
'Mr Nice Guy' said he's really really determined... ;p

JB Day Trip!

Last Sunday, 'Mr Nice Guy' told me he's going to bring me for good food.
And off we drove to JB! Very impromptu! haha..

AND.... We went for.... *drum rolls*
...
...
BAK KUT TEH (HERBAL STYLE)!!!!

Yipee! I always love the Herbal kind BKT! *feeling blessed*
I tried the Herbal BKT in Batu Pahat few years ago and fell hopelessly in love with it.
Been looking ard in SG, but very few. :(

Very nostalgic shop

The back of the shop

'Mr Nice Guy' was very excited while waiting for food.

'Mr Nice Guy's turn to be trigger-happy... haha

Thereafter we went to a car workshop nearby - Win Star Car Service and Repair 荣星汽车维修服务.

The owner used to work at Chuan Lee Hin Tyres Trading located at Midview Building at Bukit Batok Singapore. We always go to him for car services in Singapore. Those who usually patronage CLH may know the owner. :)

Looking forward to more good food...
Good food makes me a HAPPY girl! Haha

HK Diary Day 3 - Fung Shing Restaurant 鳳城酒家

SF finally free to join us on weekend! :)

SF said Fung Shing restaurant is very famous,
especially their steamed egg yolk custard bun 流沙包!

This is my first time eating steamed egg yolk custard bun 流沙包!
Hot and full of great flavour. Not too sweet and ooze with deliciousness.
A must have!
Shan said Singapore Crystal Jade's steamed egg yolk custard bun 流沙包 is superb too!

It's a challenge trying to ask for chilli and light soy sauce in HK cantonese restaurants,
given our limited vocab of cantonese. Haha...
But the nice auntie waitress still tried her best to comprehend. :)
Think she got us the dark soy sauce instead of the light one. Oops! haha...

Pic above: Yung Kee Restaurant

We ordered roasted goose leg 燒鵝腿, combination platter (char siew 叉燒 and suckling pig 烧猪) and braised tofu 红烧豆腐. Roasted goose is YUMMY!!! Suckling pig too.

SF (a friend who stayed in HK) told me that there is another place in HK selling roasted goose which is as nice (or maybe nicer) and yet cheaper. We didn't have the opportunity to visit the alternative this time, till next time then.

Tip: Go before the lunch/dinner crowd or you may have to wait. Roasted goose and Crunchy beef brisket in clear soup 清湯牛腩爽 may needs to book in advance to avoid sold-out disappointment.

3rd stop: Kung Wo Tong 恭和堂

We were very excited to go for the Herbal Jelly 龜苓膏 and Pear Tea 雪梨茶 at the famous Kung Wo Tong! Both are healthy and have heat-releasing properties... good for the skin! :)

Pic above: Kung Wo Tong

However, we actually asked for cold Herbal Jelly, but the lady boss gave us the hot one wrongly. :(
When we asked her, she apologised but never offer to change it. She gave us a little bottle of cold honey instead, saying it's the same after we poured it over the jelly. Hmm...We both like the cold herbal jelly more, felt that the cold one will melt in mouth and is not bitter at all, BUT definitely not the same for the hot herbal jelly. No choice then! If I remembered correctly, we didn't manage to finish.

In case you may be interested, there's a lil background story for Kung Wo Tong's herbal jelly.
A young lady searches high and low for magic potion to cure a Wuxia hero (maybe her lover?) until she finds a secret, old recipe. She boils a wild turtle shell and squeezes out the juice, which, when it settles, becomes a brown herbal jelly. (credit: discoverhongkong.com)

---------------------------------------------------
4th stop: Temple Street Night Market

They sold all sort of things over there i.e. clothing, pens, watches, CDs, cassettes, electronic gadgets, hardware, luggage, knockout bags/wallets, street food, fortune tellers, street performance. Good to go and have a feel of the HK bustling night market!

At near midnight when we were rushing for the last train, we can still see many HK people eating at the street hawkers! Wow! :)

The Wonton Noodles, the Clay Pot Rice, Beef Balls and Curry Fish Balls are all worth their weight in gold and they represent Hong Kong's unique food culture.

Mr Nice Guy's Cozy Birthday Celeb!

Celebrated 'Mr Nice Guy''s bdae last week... We had a cozy celebration with family. :)

Before that, i was thinking of going Universal Studios @ Sentosa Singapore, a chalet party, BBQ, Wild Wild wet etc but ALL were STRONGLY rejected by 'Mr Nice Guy'. He prefers a quiet intimate one... ('Mr Nice Guy' is actually an Otaku aka 宅男 at heart... haha ;p)

Shara ('Mr Nice Guy''s Lil Sis) introduced us to Burger Shack for dinner first. We ordered all the different burgers (chicken, pork, beef, lamb), reviews were not bad. But if you are more of a fish person, sadly they don't have fish burger over there. Apparently Burger Shack is opened by the same people behind Island Creamery, but we were too full after the burgers to stuff in any more Island Creamery ice cream. ha...

Thereafter, we had the cake cutting and birthday song at home. Yummy Durian cake from Angie the Choice. :)

Pic above: Happy bdae boy wishing (wonders what's his wish? :))

Solemnization #1 - Collection of wedding bands

We went down to collect our wedding bands yesterday! Yipee!
Cartier took 1 week for the engraving, they initially told us 10 days, but called 'Mr Nice Guy' on friday saying that we can go down to collect on sat. :)

But both mummys felt that the rings are too overpriced after we showed them. :( Hmmm... coz we initially just decided we wanna gold ring (yes, we both love gold! hee). Poh Heng was our first choice as we always like Poh Heng and go there for mummy's presents etc, but just could not find any gold rings that we both like for our wedding band.*disappointed* Thereafter we went to Cartier, Bvlgari etc. We both love the Cartier Love rings when we saw them in HK but did not have Mr Nice Guy's size then, so we came back to SG and immediately bought them. Super heartache but loves the rings :)

Kim Tian HDB #1 - Our HDB First Appointment

Ok, finally resume blogging AGAIN! Realised that Blogspot is actually easier for beginners like me, compared to LiveJournal. Have difficulties customizing the layout, coz i dunno how to do at all! haha..
So I'm glad that Blogspot has step by step guides :) Pls use blogspot if u r beginner too yeah

Told 'Mr Nice Guy' (BF told me to use this to refer to him on blog... haha...:p) that i be blogging to document our preparations for our solemnization and then wedding banquet, as evidence to show who did more work (ans is obvious.. ahem... haha...:p)... also to share our struggles/challenges with our dear friends ya :)

1st thing to announce - We went for our 1st HDB appointment today!
Surprisingly 'Mr Nice Guy' and I were EARLY for the appointment at 8.45am. Bet many friends who know us will be surprised (Ha!).

Pic above: Doesn't 'Mr Nice Guy' looks very awake? :p

Pic above: Raining season lately... luckily no floods.. hee :)

Pic above: Reached HDB Hub!!!

We waited for 1hr at the waiting area at Level 1 before we get to see the HDB officer!! Famished!!! Didn't have time to get our breakfast before the appointment.. But the HDB officer (forgot to ask his name) was very nice and friendly! Went thru all the documents with us clearly and gives advices etc... knowing that we are first-time buyer, he specially reminded us MUST MUST inspect the HDB unit before our 2nd HDB appointment where the unit becomes officially ours. Thumbs UP!

First appt checklist procedure and checklist here.

Pic above: Our friendly HDB Officer going thru documents with us, photographed by our SUPER nice agent Francis!

Thereafter, Francis brought us up to Level 3 to pay the COV + Conveyancing fees + Caveat Fee. Instantly both of us felt like a pauper! If only we are able to get new HDB flat thru balloting via BTO or BOS, we won't have to go thru this scary property market hike. Lucky thing we managed to get Francis who always help to look out for us. Met some nasty and liar agents, so beware first timers who's planning or currently looking around in the resale market.

Yeah, so finally first appointment is complete. Till the inspection..

------------

On a side note, 'Mr Nice Guy' and I saw Richard Liu Qianyi at Jurong East Central just now. 'Mr Nice Guy' suddenly exclaimed "艺人!", I turned and saw Liu Qianyi. Guess he heard us too, and amazingly he said Hi to us. Wow... Gracious! :)
