JB Day Trip!

Last Sunday, 'Mr Nice Guy' told me he's going to bring me for good food.
And off we drove to JB! Very impromptu! haha..

AND.... We went for.... *drum rolls*
...
...
BAK KUT TEH (HERBAL STYLE)!!!!

Yipee! I always love the Herbal kind BKT! *feeling blessed*
I tried the Herbal BKT in Batu Pahat few years ago and fell hopelessly in love with it.
Been looking ard in SG, but very few. :(

Very nostalgic shop

The back of the shop

'Mr Nice Guy' was very excited while waiting for food.

'Mr Nice Guy's turn to be trigger-happy... haha

Thereafter we went to a car workshop nearby - Win Star Car Service and Repair 荣星汽车维修服务.

The owner used to work at Chuan Lee Hin Tyres Trading located at Midview Building at Bukit Batok Singapore. We always go to him for car services in Singapore. Those who usually patronage CLH may know the owner. :)

HK Diary Day 3 - Supper In the Rain

Unforgettable supper in HK!
Decked in our REALLY SLOPPY home wear,
we strolled along the CBD of HK, near Lan Kuai Fong (equivalent to our Clarke Quay) somemore!

It was raining dogs and cats, even with lightening! *risky*

Haha... SF was so afraid to bump into her colleagues.
People on the street were giving us weird looks. haha..

Nevertheless, Fun and memorable! :)

HK Diary Day 3 - Shek O 石澳

We made our way to Shek O... We were all very excited.
Decided on our destination only on the night before. Ha!
Thanks SF for your fabulous suggestion!

First, we have to go to Shau Kei Wan MRT station to take bus 9.
We passed by Shau Kei Wan wet market, just beside Shau Kei Wan MRT station.
First cultural experience at wet market in HK! Unique! :)

We tried the eggette 鸡蛋仔, a popular Hong Kong street snack. Delicious! :)

Pic above: Bus 9 at Shau Kei Wan bus terminus

The bus terminus is just outside the MTR station. Shek O beach is the last stop. Yipee!

Shek O, on Hong Kong Island's east coast, is a village with a great looking beach to its south.
The beach looks wonderful! Weather was excellent that day.. lucky :)
A popular weekend and holiday destination, offering a public barbecue area and many restaurants.
Great hangout with friends and family!

On a side note, just found out that Shek O Country Club housed some of Hong Kong's most luxurious and expensive homes. These 20 or so large detached houses with private gardens and sea views cost tens of millions of dollars!! Wow!

Their owners include:
- Richard Li (the youngest son of Li Ka-shing) is also at this exclusive area. - 2010 May ASIA TATLER.
- the chairman of Wheelock and Company Peter Woo Kwong-ching,
- Sino Land boss Robert Ng Chee-siong (son of our late Singaporean tycoon Ng Teng fong),
- HK Tycoon Julian Hui Chun Hung (husband of TVB 1988 pageant winner Michelle Reis). Their wedding took place in swanky HK$700 million dollar residence Hung Hung in Shek O in 2008. The house definitely worths more now!

HK Diary Day 3 - Fung Shing Restaurant 鳳城酒家

SF finally free to join us on weekend! :)

SF said Fung Shing restaurant is very famous,
especially their steamed egg yolk custard bun 流沙包!

Pic above: Me, SF and Shan

This is my first time eating steamed egg yolk custard bun 流沙包!
Hot and full of great flavour. Not too sweet and ooze with deliciousness.
A must have!
Shan said Singapore Crystal Jade's steamed egg yolk custard bun 流沙包 is superb too!

It's a challenge trying to ask for chilli and light soy sauce in HK cantonese restaurants,
given our limited vocab of cantonese. Haha...
But the nice auntie waitress still tried her best to comprehend. :)
Think she got us the dark soy sauce instead of the light one. Oops! haha...

HK Diary Day 2 - Fa Yuen Street 花园街

Fa Yuen Street market is actually within walking distance from the Ladies’ Market in Sai Yeung Choi St.

But Fa Yuen Street has way BETTER DEALS than the Ladies Market!
Felt that the Ladies Market is mainly for tourist and things are so overpriced.
Fa Yuen St on the other hand is more for their local, things here are much cheaper. The people there are nicer and friendlier too. There isn’t much bargaining needed since the prices are very low to begin with.

Shan and I both prefer the shops on either side of Fa Yuen Street more than the stalls!
Lotsa nice clothes and shoes!
